Anindilyakwa students currently attend four schools across the Archipelago. Three of these schools, Angurugu, Umbakumba and Milyakburra receive financial support to provide services including a school nutrition program and attendance support. As an area school that was established to support the mining community of Alyangula, Alyangula School does not receive this direct funding support.
As many Anindilyakwa families choose to send their children to Alyangula School, GEBIPCAC – with the support of the Groote Eylandt Aboriginal Trust, provides a nutrition program for our kids. We also provide case management support for Alyangula Students to support their attendance, engagement and achievement. This includes helping parents manage enrolment processes, and in providing uniforms and school supplies to support learning.
